Graveside services for Mr. Alva Royce (Big Al) Bettis, 63, of Sulphur Springs are scheduled for 1 PM Wednesday February 24, 2016 at the Pecan Gap Cemetery in Pecan Gap with Pastor Terry Sparks officiating under direction of Lowe Funeral Home of Quitman.
Alva was born on July 4, 1952 in Cooper and passed away at his home on February 20, 2016. Alva was born to Alva Franklin and Hazel McCoy Bettis. He was a truck driver and served in the National Guard. Alva was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Doris Edelhauser and Brenda Wilks, brothers Bobby, James and Alvie Jr. Bettis, son Kevin Bettis and daughter Natasha Bettis.
Survivors include his wife Susan Bettis, Sulphur Springs, sons Chris Bettis and his wife Sarah, Sulphur Springs, Lynn Bettis and his wife Kiki, Quitman, brother Lynn Bettis, Coulterville, CA, two sisters Myrtle McCool, Discovery Bay, CA and Hazel Stanley, Tyler, TX and 4 grandchildren Shelby, Donovan, Ashtyn and Seth.
Honorary pallbearers are his four grandchildren Shelby Bettis, Donovan Bettis, Ashtyn Bettis and Seth Bettis.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home in Quitman.
