Service celebrating the Faith, Life and Love of Angela Lajoy Newton Wylie of Winnsboro, will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Tinney Chapel United Methodist Church in Winnsboro.
Angela went home to her Lord and Savior in Winnsboro on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family. She was born on February 19, 1956 in Titus County, Texas to Jimmy Joe Newton and Wanda Gearner Newton. A lifetime resident of Winnsboro, she will be fondly remembered as an artist, painter, quilter, poet, and writer of stories, along with a great many other talents. She was a devoted mother, having spent her children's youth alongside them in numerous activities as they each grew to become part of the fabric of our community.
After her children began to establish themselves, She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree studying at Northeast Texas Community College, and then completing her studies at the Texas A & M Commerce. She obtained her Teaching Credentials and then invested herself in the Winnsboro Independent School District working with students requiring special education. She enjoyed spending precious time with family, including ministering to extended family at Tinney Chapel United Methodist Church as a Lay Pastor. She was also honored to be an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband, David Wylie of Winnsboro; her mother; Wanda Hardin of Winnsboro; daughter Shelley and her husband David Hodges of Leesburg; daughter, Travessa Tinney Newsome of Winnsboro; Son, Kevin Ed Tinney and his wife Ashley of Winnsboro; brother, J.A. Newton and his wife Jane Anne of Winnsboro; and her grandchildren, Brandon Hodges, Jacob Hodges, Hunter Hodges, Bailey Newsome, Rylie Newsome, Allison Tinney, and Travis Tinney.
She embraced life to the fullest and was a blessing to all who had the immense pleasure of knowing and spending time with her.
