Ann Long

Ann Llewellyn Long, age 78, of Quitman, passed away August 8, 2021 at her home.

Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Lowe-Gardner Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeremiah Thomas officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, John, at Rock Hill Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time, starting at 1:00 PM.

Ann Long was born in Denton County on August 29, 1942 to Mitchell and Ruby (Grimes) Thomas. On September 25, 1958 she married the love of her life, John Long. They were married for nearly 60 wonderful years at the time of his passing in 2018. To this marriage, three children were born. John and Ann moved from Hebron, TX to Quitman in the 80’s and built their dream home.

Ann was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. John was her one true love, and she never did anything without him. Ann’s hobbies included jigsaw and crossword puzzles, reading, and she enjoyed yard work.

She greets in Heaven her husband, John Long; a son, Timothy Long; parents, Mitchell and Ruby Thomas; and four siblings, Faye Hogan, Harold Thomas, David Thomas, and Bruce Thomas.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Matthew Long and wife Jeanne of Holden, Missouri, and Mary Asbill and husband Jerry of Pickton, TX; seven siblings, Christine Kuykendall, Fred Thomas, Leslie Thomas, Price Thomas, Mickey Schuerman, Gregory Thomas, and Johnny Thomas; six grandchildren, Deidra Busby, Justin Asbill, Zack Asbill, Blake Campbell, Ember Long, and Maverick Long; five great grandchildren, Seth Busby, Kendall Morris, Jace Busby, Audrey True, and Seth Campbell; four great great grandchildren, Judd and Scarlett Asbill, Kyrie Campbell, and Lily Caldwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Serving as pallbearers are Price Thomas, Zack Asbill, Justin Asbill, Jace Busby, Gregory Thomas, and Johnny Thomas.
