Billy Ray Blunt, 75, of Quitman, Texas returned to his heavenly home on Friday, May 21, 2021. A memorial service for Billy will be held at a later date with his family.
Billy was born on February 5, 1946 to parents Nolan Levi and Della Pauline (Butler) Blunt in Peniel, Texas. He grew up in a very musical family. He loved to sing and play the guitar, especially with his mother and The Hainesville Aires. Billy was also a great craftsman, who loved to build all kinds of things. If you could think it, he could build it.
Billy worked as a Sheriff’s Deputy in Wood County for many years where he retired in 2001. He was very well known and loved around town. Billy married Sandra on March 7, 1999 in Mineola, Texas. He was a member of the Lake Fork Baptist Church. He was a volunteer of the Texas Baptist Men for 10 years.
He is preceded by his son Patrick Evan Blunt; brother, Norman Eugene Blunt; and parents Nolan and Della Blunt.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Blunt; son, Paul Blunt and wife Ginger; step-children, Max and Christie Murphy; sisters, Anita Durham, and Nancy Harrison and husband Chuck; grandchildren Kassie, Dustin, Brennan, and Cody; along with 6 great grandchildren; 7 nieces, and other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
