Carlis Wilton Strickland

Carlis W. Strickland, age 82 of Hawkins, Texas passed away on September 13, 2019 in Tyler, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Hubbard Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, located on the SW corner of FM 778 at CR 2590/3250, Mineola, TX  75773. The Strickland family will receive friends at the Lowe Funeral Home in Quitman, Texas from 5 until 7 PM on Sunday September 15, 2019. Services will be officiated by Pastor Zachary Tunell, pallbearers will be Cody Childers, Steven Strickland, Joshua Strickland, Wilton Strickland, Jeff Strickland and William Crump. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray French and Chris Clardy.  

Mr. Strickland was born in Nevada, Texas on September 29, 1936 to Charles Leonard and Bertha (Aldridge) Strickland. He was a retired public works supervisor having worked in several local municipalities and retiring from the City of Tyler.  Carlis was a member of the Masonic Lodge, having achieved his Master Mason degree.

Carlis Strickland is survived by his wife, Sherilon Joyce Strickland; sons, Gary Strickland of Hawkins, TX, Roger Strickland of Hawkins, TX, and Carl Strickland of Pine Mills, TX; 13 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild; a brother, C.L. Strickland of Mineola, TX; and a sister Oletha Yarbrough of Seagoville, TX. Carlis was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Strickland.
