Charles “Pops” Davis Yates, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Quitman, Texas on January 4, 2022.
Charles was born in Gatesville, Texas on September 15, 1939, to Otto and Ruth Murray Yates. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Quitman, Texas. He worked for the City of Quitman for 21 years and operated a backhoe for many of those years.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bertha Yates, Geraldine Yates, Aline Woodward, Polly Cottongame, and Myrtle Wilhoite; Brothers J.W. Yates and Ralph Yates; Grandsons, “Chuck” Darren Yates and Jordan Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Margaret Yates; sons Charles Yates, Jr. and wife Kathy of Point, Chris Yates and wife Heather of Houston, Clint Yates and wife Lisa of Poetry; daughters, Diana Henderson of Quitman, and Angie Cooper and husband Don of Quitman; sister, Kathy Reinhardt and husband Joe of Hewitt; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be Friday, January 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM at The First Assembly of God Church-Quitman. Visitation for Mr. Yates will be Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service on Friday at Clover Hill Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Patrick Ingram, Steven Ingram, Justin Cooper, Caine Ingram, Wesley Yates, and Corbin Brewer.
