Connie Ruth Underwood

Connie Ruth Underwood, 63, of Quitman, Texas, passed away on February 16, 2025. She was born on May 24, 1961, in Gladewater, Texas, to her loving parents, Jack Laverne and Jeanette Oleta Hendrickson.

Connie spent most of her adult life in Quitman, where she worked hard to build a career as a roofer. She was known for her strength, hard work, determination, and dedication to her craft.

Beyond work, Connie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was a member of Living Waters Church in Quitman. She loved riding motorcycles, crocheting beautiful creations, and tending to her animals. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her family—especially her children and grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Meme” and “Nana.”

She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, cherished by her family and friends. Connie’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded by her parents Jack and Jeanette Hendrickson; granddaughter Skyie LeeAnne Higgins; sister Laura Thomas; niece Savanah Thomas; and husband Billie Joe Underwood Jr.

She is survived by her children Chris Underwood (Donica Moore), and Heather Higgins; grandchildren Damion, Chloe, Ethan, Brianna, Chanse; 3 great-grandchildren; and other extended family members and friends. 

A celebration of her life will be held 2:00PM Friday, February 28, 2025 at Living Waters Church in Quitman Texas with Pastor David Hartley officiating.
