Cregg Parsons Nolen III, born February 13, 1952, in Jefferson, Texas, to Cregg Parsons Nolen II and Roberta Nolen, passed away on November 7, 2024, at his home in Quitman. He was 72 years old.
Cregg's life was defined by service and dedication, starting with his 30-year career in the United States Army. He served honorably as a Special Agent with the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), earning numerous awards, badges, citations, and ribbons for his exceptional work. After retiring from the military, Cregg pursued a second career in healthcare, earning a Master’s degree and becoming a nurse, where he continued his commitment to helping others.
On September 10, 2005, Cregg married Phyllis Gail Nolen. They spent 15 years together before her passing in 2019. After her passing he married Jeanna Chapman. On September 19, 2023 he married Lisa Nolen. Cregg enjoyed the quiet, rewarding life on his ranch after his retirement. Cregg loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, and took great pride in growing fruits and vegetables in his garden. His grandchildren fondly called him “Pawpaw,” and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Cregg never turned down the chance to sit and have a good conversation, and always enjoyed a decent slice of pizza. Past wives include Louise Nolen, Cathy Tillman, and Donna Raymond.
Cregg was also an animal lover and his dog, Pennie, was a faithful companion.
Cregg was preceded in death by his parents, Cregg Parsons Nolen II and Roberta Nolen; wife, Phyllis Gail Nolen; and three siblings, Christine Nolen, Michael Nolen, and Betty Knight.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Nolen of Hawley, TX; four children, Denise Butler and husband Joshua of Argyle, TX, Chip Nolen and wife Hannah of Edmond, OK, Nicole Luna of Merkel, TX, and Briana Luna of Abilene, TX; three grandchildren, Quinn, Levi, and Hazel; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A private interment at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
