David M. Seago, 82, of Alba, Texas, passed away on March 24, 2025. Born on August 18, 1942, to Carson and Glenna Ruth Sparks Seago, David lived a life dedicated to his family, friends, education, and his deep love for sports.
David married the love of his life, Lynda Low Seago, on January 22, 1966. Together, they built a life centered on family, service, and community. He was a proud graduate of Quitman High School, class of 1961, and went on to attend Stephen F. Austin State University, where he ran track on a full scholarship—a passion that remained with him throughout his life.
With a career spanning 46 years in education, David served as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent, leaving a lasting impact on countless students, colleagues, and fellow educators. His dedication extended beyond the classroom, as he continued to mentor young athletes and be active in track meets across Texas, ensuring future generations had the same opportunities he cherished. His pursuit of excellence led him to continue his education throughout most of his professional life.
Above all, David loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lynda Seago; his children, Laura Mitchell (John) of Pickton, David Carson (Jenifer) of Whitesboro, and Libby James (Jason) of Valley View. He was also a proud and loving grandfather to Katie Kinworthy (Chris), Amanda Sharber (Ryan), Cole Mitchell (Shelby), Lyndee Jo Mitchell, Ashley Marceaux, Payton Williams, Carson Seago (Savannah), Madyson James (Tommy), Jaxon James, and Hudson James; and great-grandfather to Kyler and Sailee Jo Kinworthy, Liam Sharber, Cheslynn and Brynn Marceaux, Willa Jean Seago, Addi, Justin, and Olivia Martin. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Pam Seago, his brother-in-laws Paul Low and wife Virginia, Larry Low and wife Myra, and Jerry Low and wife Angela as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
After retiring, David enjoyed playing golf, traveling across the country to watch his grandkids participate in the sports they love, and setting off on adventures with Lynda and their lifelong friends, Jimmy and Rita Johns, Kenneth and GayNell Williams, and Bob and Karla Wilson.
David’s legacy will live on in the many lives he touched through education, athletics, and mentorship. His passion, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Glenna Ruth Seago, and his brother, Don Seago.
