Funeral service for Mr. Earnest Flournoy Jr., age 73, of Quitman, is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Lowe-Garner Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Quitman City Cemetery.
Earnest Flournoy, Jr. was born in Mineola, Texas on July 18, 1947. He was the first of six children born to the late Catherine Flournoy and Earnest Flournoy, Sr. He attended McFarland and Mineola High School.
Earnest relocated to Houston, Texas working for Southern Pacific Railroad before returning to Quitman, Texas.
Earnest enjoyed working for the State Highway Department in Quitman until retirement. He attended Brocks Chapel with mother and stepfather, Catherine Clark and Hermèe Clark until their death. Earnest has one son, Michael Baines, Sr. and one grandson, Michael Baines,Jr. He enjoyed family friends, fishing, hunting, and watching his sports and westerns.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Earnest Flournoy, Sr. and Catherine Clark; step father, Hermee Clark; brothers, Larry Flournoy and Hershel Flournoy; sister, Pearley Flournoy Etienne; and brother-in-law, Rev. Charlie Fred Gibson, Sr.
Earnest leaves to mourn his passing a loving son, Michael Baines Sr. of Houston; a grandson, Michael Baines, Jr of Houston; two sisters Alice Russell of Harker Heights, TX and Joyce Gibson of Lancaster, TX; brother-in-law, Adam Etienne of Houston, TX; step sister, Marilyn Clark of Dallas, TX; Friend/Brother, Mike Berry; sister in law's, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
