Evelyn Ann Stone

Evelyn Ann Stone, 83, of Quitman, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on March 18, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1941, in Plano, Texas, to William Henry Brazeal and Georgia (Renfro) Brazeal.

Evelyn was a devoted homemaker for most of her life, though she also worked for a time at TI and Computer Automation. She married the love of her life, William "Bill" Lewis Stone, on March 17, 1961, at her home in Plano, Texas. They had just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

In 1985, Evelyn and Bill moved to Quitman, where she became an active member of Lake Fork Baptist Church. Her faith and love for her family were central to her life. She had a deep love for fishing, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Nanny."

Evelyn will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her gentle spirit, love for her family, and warm presence will always be remembered.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Bill Stone of Quitman; her two children, Terri Swanson of Pickton, and Greg Stone of Quitman; two grandchildren, Chelsea Crutsinger and husband Kevin of Gilmer, and Crystal Knotts and husband Aaron of Pickton; five grandchildren, Ryan Townsend, Matthew Townsend, Sumer Knotts, Kaleigh Knotts, and Kaleb Knotts; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, David Swanson.

Funeral service for Evelyn Stone will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations with Brother Gary Hamton officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Quitman City Cemetery.
