Florence Helen Stipe, age 70, passed away peacefully in her home on July 10, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born to John Lewis Jasper II and Helen Morris, Helen graduated from Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, in 1972. Shortly after, she married her devoted husband, Mike Stipe, with whom she shared 52 wonderful years. Together, they raised two daughters, Angela Schweizer (husband Richard) and Jennifer Stipe (husband Robert Flores).
Helen was a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for over 20 years, working alongside various surgeons and specialists. After her retirement, she pursued her passion for cosmetology, returning to school to further her skills.
In their joint retirement, Helen and Mike embraced the peaceful country life in Quitman, Texas. Helen found joy in raising her beloved Silkie chickens, affectionately referring to them as her "babies." She also nurtured a passion for genealogy, becoming an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Her commitment to the DAR allowed her to forge lasting friendships, perform volunteer services for the community, and take on leadership roles within her chapter.
Helen is survived by her husband Mike; daughters Angela and Jennifer; grandchildren Cullen Stipe, Katie Culbreth, Aiydan Schweizer, and Michael Miller; and her siblings Frances Green (husband Charles), Darlene Rowan, and Johnny Jasper (wife Cindy). She was preceded in death by her parents John Lewis Jasper ll and Helen Morris and brothers Floyd and Vernon Jasper.
Helen will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love, service, and passion for life will forever be remembered.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life at Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home in Quitman, Texas on Friday, July 19, 2024. Visitation begins at 12:00, the service will begin at 2:00 followed by a graveside observance at Quitman City Cemetery.
