Frances Koen, age 90 of Quitman, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023.

Frances was born on November 5, 1932, in West, McLennan County, Texas to the late Leston and Myrtle Scott. She worked as an insurance agent. On March 18, 1960. Frances married the love of her life, John Koen. Together, they grew their family by welcoming six children, Alfred, Steve, Robert, David, Elaine, and Mike.  

Frances loved to play bingo, go fishing, and enjoyed camping. She was of the Baptist faith. Before moving to Quitman two years ago, Frances lived in Quinlan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Robert “Red” Koen; her sons, Alfred Lee Elliott and Steve Elliott; her parents, Leston and Myrtle Scott; her brother, Leston Scott Jr.; her sister, Tommie Nell Caddel; and her best friend who was like a sister to her, Margaret James.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert Koen and wife Sue of Quitman, David Koen of Dallas, Elaine Chatterly and husband Edward of Buffalo, Texas, and Mike Elliott of Avenger, Texas; her brother, Billy Scott and wife Mary of Garland; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Frances Koen are scheduled for Wednesday, March 8 at 10:00 AM at the Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home in Quitman with Pastor Mike Midkiff officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Irving, Texas.
