He was a Methodist and a member of the American Legion and a Mason. He is preceded by 1 son Scott Hemmingsen.
He is survived by his wife Miriam Hemmingsen, Quitman; 3 Sons, Alan and Cindy Hemmingsen, Oregon, Bruce Hemmingsen, Winnsboro and Craig Hemmingsen, Iowa; 8 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
