Tyler, TX â George Hoyt Camp, 90, of Quitman, TX, passed away April 18, 2019, at Christus Mother Francis Hospital.
Hoyt was born in Godley, TX and raised in Cartwright. He worked for Kraft foods for 19 years before moving to Quitman where he was the owner of the Western Auto store for 25 years.
Hoyt was a member of the Rotary Club, the Bank Texas Holdings board, the Old Settlersâ Reunion Board, and the advisory council for Southwestern Baptist Seminary. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Hoyt is survived by his wife of 71 years, Billie Marie Cater Camp; his son James Edwin Camp and wife Janice; his grandson James Eric Camp and wife Kristen and great grandson Colin; grandson Christopher Nolan Camp and wife Barbara; granddaughter Stacey Betts, great grandson Jeremy Henderson, granddaughter Kim Criner, and great grandson Davison Criner.
Hoyt was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Lynn Harris, grandson Jeffrey Harris, his brother Sam Camp, and sister Jo Beddoe.
Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 â 8:00 PM Monday, April 22, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at First Baptist Church, Quitman, with Pastor Gabe Martin officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are Richard Amason, Bill Galley, James Krodel, Kent Wear, Charles Davidson, Cary Butler, Lee Rainwater, Chris Gaby, Keith Haisten, and Roger Speed.
