Glenda Joyce Smith

Glenda Joyce Smith, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on October 13, 2024, at the age of 82. Glenda, a lifetime resident of Wood County, was born on October 12, 1942, in Quitman Texas to Billy Frank Clanton and Pauline Robinson.

Glenda was a dedicated employee at Kendons, where she showcased her passion for interior design. Her talent and creativity in the industry were unmatched. Outside of work, she enjoyed playing cards, frequenting the casino, and caring for her beloved dog, who was a constant source of companionship and joy for her. Known affectionately as "grandma" to her grandchildren, Glenda was a pillar of support and love in their lives. She was also blessed with a loving husband, Billy, who cherished her every day. He treated her like a queen, always ensuring she felt adored and appreciated. Their bond was a testament to a love that knew no bounds, built on mutual respect, kindness, and devotion. His unwavering care and support filled her life with joy and comfort, making their time together a beautiful chapter in her story. 

After retiring, Glenda dedicated herself to caring for her mother, Pauline Robinson. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be cherished.

She is preceded by her son Cary Moore; Father Billy Frank Clanton; sister Billie Faye Wood; and brother Edward Clanton.

Glenda is survived by her husband Billy Childres; mother Pauline Robinson; daughters Kimberly Lamberson and husband Gary of Quitman, TX, and Angel Mark, husband Glen of Winnsboro, TX; brothers Lynn Clanton, wife Mary of Quitman, TX, Randy Clanton, wife Gayla of Quitman, TX, and Robby Clanton, wife Heidi Davis of Quitman, TX; grandchildren Crystal Walker, Rachel Formby, Jessica Farmer, Mahto Smith, and Ashley Munns; her four legged best friend Sassy; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A Memorial will be held at 10:30AM, October 26, 2024 at Concord Cemetery. Following the Memorial, a Celebration of Life will be held at the house for all family and friends who wish to attend. Family requests that flowers be sent to the home, and they will carry them over to the cemetery, they would also like to inform everyone to come dressed casual.
