Jerry Duane Gaby

Jerry Duane Gaby, 81 years old, entered the pearly gates of Heaven on December 28, 2021, in Quitman, Texas.

He was born on December 22, 1940, to James Herman Gaby and Ruby Faye Wright Gaby in Overton, Texas. His childhood years were spent in Orange, Texas. As a teenager, his family moved back to Alba, Texas where he graduated from Alba-Golden High School and met the love of his life, Loretta Jean Patrick Gaby. They married on February 6, 1960 and were married 50 years before his beloved wife died in 2010. Together they settled on a hill in Quitman and raised their family with a strong Christian background.

Among his many talents of being a farmer and rancher, his greatest achievement was building houses. In his day, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Wayne and Kristie Gaby of Quitman, and daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jana and Stanley smith of Quitman. Granddaughters and grandson-in-laws: Amanda Leigh and Mark Vig of Tyler; Raegan LouAnn and Shane Whittington of Quitman; Jennifer Annette and Terry Morrison of Oklahoma City, OK; and Gaby Leigh and Kevin VanHorn of Whitehouse. Great-Grandchildren: Gabriella Jean and Samantha Grace Vig; Gunnar Wayne and Walker Lee Whittington; Tucker Gerald, Tinley Annette, and Tessa Christine Morrison; and Milo Kevin VanHorn. Siblings and spouses: Danielle Mase of Winnsboro, Ronny and Wanda Gaby of Alba, Michael and Brenda Gaby of Emory, Patsy Gibson of Sulphur Springs, and Patricia and Richard Williamson of Stillwater, OK.

Funeral service for Mr. Jerry Gaby is scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, January 3, 2022 at Myrtle Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Dave Cook officiating. Graveside service will follow at Myrtle Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday evening, January 2, 2022 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations.

Serving as pallbearers are Shane Whittington, Terry Morrison, Kevin VanHorn, Johnny Ziegler, Mike Ziegler, and Charles Patrick.

My condolences to the Gaby family. Jerry was fun to be around and I loved his mischievous smile. It is sad to lose another member of our Alba-Golden class of 59. I have fond memories of Jerry and Jean.
