Johnny Mack Rushing

Johnny Mack Rushing, a beloved resident of Yantis, TX, passed away on March 10, 2024, at the age of 89. Johnny was born on February 8, 1935 in Quitman to Will Rushing and Willie Eubera Rushing.

After college Johnny went on to enlisting in the military and served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He married the love of his life, Vallee (Davis) Rushing on July 26, 1956 at First Baptist Church of Yantis.

Johnny was known for his dedication to his career. For 20 years he worked for the Dallas Fire Department before he retired in the early 80’s. In his younger years he enjoyed quail hunting and fishing.  His grandkids fondly referred to him as "Pa” and he enjoyed spending quality time with his family.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Yantis, TX.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Will Rushing and Willie Eubera Rushing; son, Scott Rushing; and sister, Frieda Joy Rushing.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 68 years, Vallee Rushing of Yantis; his children, Craig Rushing and wife Sheilah of Yantis TX, and Karen Rushing of Yantis, TX; two grandchildren, Chase Rushing and wife Sarah of Yantis TX, and Matt Rushing and wife Callie of Marshall TX; and one great-grandchild, Robert Jackson Rushing.
