Kenneth Wesley Murry, age 82 of Quitman, entered the pearly gates of Heaven on August 29, 2022.
Ken was born in Tahoka, Texas on October 9, 1939, to Coy and Okla Murry. Ken married the love of his life, Patricia Neal in 1963 at Fireside Baptist Church in Dallas. Together, Ken and Pat had three children, Pamela, David, and Carrie.
Ken and Pat lived in the Dallas area for 50 years and upon retirement in 1999, they settled down in Quitman and spent the rest of their years together. Ken was employed at the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in Dallas for numerous years.
The Murry’s attended church at Bethany Baptist Church in Dallas, Liberty Methodist Church in Quitman, and Living Waters Church in Quitman. Ken and Pat were part of the Volunteer Christian Builders and Campers on Mission organizations. Ken sang in the church choir and was a member of the quartet at Bethany Baptist. He enjoyed traveling, refurbishing churches, and carpentry. Ken’s most favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and spoil his grandchildren.
Ken is greeted in Heaven by his parents, Coy and Okla Murry; and grandson, Wesley Marett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Pat Murry of Quitman; three children, Pamela Marett and husband Earl of Mesquite, David Murry and wife DeLynn of Garland, and Carrie Dyer and husband Wade of Combine; one sister, Linda Britton and husband Larry of Balch Springs, TX; eight grandchildren; Chad Marett and wife Jamey, Jonathan Marett and wife Leanna, Paige Stricklin and husband Bubba, Casey Murry and wife Courtney, Brianna Harmon, Chase Harmon, Andrea Dyer, and Emily Dyer; eight great-grandchildren, Houston Marett, Jaxton Marett, Easton Stricklin, Rhett Stricklin, Coy Murry, Camryn Grace Murry, DJ Newson-Page, and Dakota Newson-Page; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that are family.
Funeral Service for Ken will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home in Quitman with David LeFlore officiating. Graveside service will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Serving as pallbearers are Jonathan Marett, Casey Murry, Chase Harmon, Bubba Stricklin, Clem Uhlig and James Hartley.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Dallas Area Parkinson Society (DAPS) (6310 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy #213, Dallas, TX 75240), and to the Alzheimer’s Alliance (3531 S. Broadway, Tyler, Texas 75701)
