Lonnie Houston Kale Jr., 75, of Scurry, Texas, passed away on January 11, 2025, in Kemp, Texas.

Lonnie was born on July 22, 1949, in Marshall, Texas, to Lonnie Houston Kale Sr. and Norma Jean Sutton. He was a longtime resident of Scurry since 1987, and he attended Rafter J Cowboy Church in Terrell. He married his wife Brenda in 1971.

Lonnie lived life on wheels, working as a truck driver for several companies. His passion for driving extended to horses, motorcycles, and especially trucks—if it had wheels, Lonnie loved to drive it! He also had a knack for picking on his family, a habit he defended with a grin, saying, “I’m just building character!” Lonnie cherished his role as “Papa” and found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones.

Lonnie was known for his flirtatious charm and never missed an opportunity to flirt with the ladies. He was always quick with a smile, a wink, or a compliment. His lighthearted and fun-loving personality brought happiness to everyone he met.

He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, playful sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family.

He is preceded by his parents Lonnie Kale Sr. and Norma Sutton; wife Brenda Kale; son Bobby Kale Sr.; two sisters, Dolores Rooney and Linda Livingston; and three brothers, James Kale, Floyd Kale, and Ricky Kale.

He is survived by his four children, Misty Boring and husband Jeff of Ennis, Bobby Cantrell and wife Tacy of Mansfield, Jennifer Kale of Scurry, and Troy Kale Sr. and wife Normandy of Dallas; four siblings, Charles Kale and wife Vickie, Lloyd Kale, Michael Sudderth, and Mary Appling and husband Randy; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one on the way; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Services for Lonnie will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations with Thom Martin officiating. Graveside service will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.

Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Cryer, Lane Cryer, Aaron Kale, Troy Kale Jr., Paul Luman, and Bobby Kale Jr.
