Mae Jewel Price

Beloved mother, sister, “Granny,” and Momma Mae; Mae Jewel Price, age 82, entered the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ; July 15, 2024. God closed her loving eyes and whispered, “Peace Be Thine”; enter now into thy Master’s joy.

She was born in Quitman, TX on January 15, 1942; residence; Quitman, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age. 

Mae Jewel’s favorite past-time was crafting, sewing, and attending trade shows with her daughter Kymberly. She especially enjoyed creating garments for her children, grandchildren, and friends. She loved road trips with her brothers, cousins, and friends. Her favorite food was chicken and sweet potatoes. She was known for her tough love and stern discipline. She was a longtime member at Mt. Shiloh Church and served as an usher and church secretary at Mt. Shiloh Baptist and an usher at New Life Church; Quitman, Texas. 

As an airplane parts and production specialist at Raytheon for approximately 18 years, she retired in 1995 

Mae Jewel was preceded in death by her parents R Lee & Tommie C Kelly; and her brother Alford Kelly. 

Mae Jewel is survived by her brother Jerry and wife Linda; her daughter Kymberly and husband John; her son Dennis and wife Tonia; her son Jerrek “Nick”; her daughter Pamela; her son Patrick and wife Vicky; her daughter Kenitra; and 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of many beloved friends. 

Her life will be forever cherished.

Homegoing Celebration honoring the love, labor, and legacy of our beloved matriarch, Mae Price, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 20, 2024 at New Life Baptist Church in Quitman. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Graveside service will follow the funeral at Freeman Chapel Cemetery.
