Marian Essie West

Marian Essie West, 89, of Quitman, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025. She was born on August 17, 1935, in Tennessee Colony, Texas, to her loving parents, Luther and Orbie Pressley Harrelson.

Marian grew up with a strong Baptist faith that guided her throughout her life. On January 5, 1980, she married her beloved husband, James Edward West, at Hainsville Baptist Church. Together, they shared 45 wonderful years of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Marian was known for her warm heart and many talents. She loved crocheting beautiful creations, cooking and baking delicious meals for her family and friends, exploring her family history through genealogy, and enjoying a bit of fun at the slots.

She is preceded by her son Mike Hazelwood; daughter Debbie Knighton and sister Pauline Croslin.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, James West; daughter Brenda Mabery; stepdaughter Lori Jackson; grandchildren Donnie Garvin, Vince Knighton, Josh Mabery, Matthew Mabery, Dylan Mabery, Kimberly Hazelwood, Megan Hazelwood, Bradley Bolich and Olivia Jackson; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. 

Services for Marian are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
