Marjorie Coryenia (Bassinger) Tier was a beloved mother and wife, passed away on October 30, 2024, in Mineola, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Born on April 15, 1938, in Denton, Texas, she was the daughter of Everett Stephenson Bassinger and Lilly Frances Hurst. Her life was characterized by deep family values and a commitment to her loved ones, including her three children whom she cherished deeply.
On June 4, 1961, Marjorie married Edwin Virgil Tier, Jr., in Lake Dallas, Texas, embarking on a partnership filled with love and shared experiences. Though she briefly worked as a lunch lady for Quitman ISD in the 1980s, her primary role was that of a dedicated homemaker, creating a warm and nurturing environment for her family.
An avid reader, Marjorie had a passion for literature, often completing a book a day. She also held a strong spiritual life, taking time every night to read a passage from the Bible. Her love for communication was evident in her enjoyment of writing letters on stationery, a practice that showcased her thoughtfulness and personal touch.
Marjorie's life was enriched by her experiences, a long-time resident of Wood County for more than 44 years, she has spent these last two years in Kentucky, where she was a member of the Belton, Kentucky Church of Christ. She will be remembered as a family-oriented individual whose love and devotion to her family left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is preceded by her husband Edwin Virgil Tier, Jr., and her parents Everett Stephenson Bassinger, and Lilly Frances Hurst.
Left to cherish her memories are her children Michael Tier and wife Carolyn, Ladeana Schmidt and husband Timothy, Mark Tier and wife Teresa; grandchildren Shawna and spouse Brandon, Angela and spouse Nikki, Shane, and Shannon; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; friend from grade school Gloria Jean; and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Lowe Gardner Funeral Home, 1102 E Goode St, Quitman, TX 75783. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church,1410 FM 14, Quitman, TX 75783, with burial following at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
