Michael Scott Flippo, 63, lived in Quitman, Texas. He passed away Friday, September 10, 2022, at his home. He was born at Craig Air Force Base located in Selma, Alabama to Talmadge and Dorothy Flippo. He graduated from Leon High School in Tallahassee, Florida. After high school he enrolled at United Electronics in Tampa, Florida, graduating with an Associate Degree.

After graduating he was employed by Texas Instruments as an electronic technician in Dallas, Texas. His work took him to places such as China and South America. He retired in 1998 for medical reasons. While at TI, he met Rita Hernandez and they were married for 33 years until she passed away on July 28, 2021.

Scott enjoyed travel time with the family which included Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Hawaii. He loved taking pictures everywhere he went.  He loved sitting on his front porch watching his hummingbirds and was really looking forward to enjoying the fishing on Lake Fork. He was loved and will be missed. One thing is for sure, God got one of the good ones.

He is survived by his parents Talmadge and Dorothy Flippo of Valdosta, Georgia; two siblings, Marsha L Hill of, Scurry, Texas, and Donna L Heath and husband Gerald of Tallahassee, Florida; one nephew, Adam M. Shapiro and wife Brandy of Scurry, Texas; great nephew, Colby Michael; three great nieces, Landry Nicole, Maddy Ann, and Brittany Ann.

Michael Scott is also survived by his 4 stepchildren, Martin Richard Hernandez of Mesquite, TX, Michael Ray Hernandez and wife Lehua Ho of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Rita Linn Schaefer and husband Sean Jacob of Sachse, TX, and Steven Lane Amacker of Austin, TX; six grandchildren, Erik Overton Gordy, Jennah Armada-Doseo and husband Michael Cabebe, Isabella Jolie, Houston Isaac, Cruz Amelia, and Caspian Jan Amacker; and three great-grandchildren, Darian, Averie, and Peyton Armada-Egloria.

Funeral service for Michael Scott Flippo is scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Todd Peavey officiating. Graveside service will follow at Quitman City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Steve Amacker, Eric Gordy, Jake Schaefer, Adam Shapiro, Gerald Heath, Martin Hernandez, Houston Schaefer, and Colby Shapiro.

Honorary pallbearers are Talmadge Flippo and Mike Hernandez.
