Michael H.G. Lohr passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 28, 1945, in Frankfurt, Germany, Michael lived a life full of adventure, passion, and love for those around him. To his family, he was affectionately called “Opa”, a German name that symbolized the warmth and wisdom he shared.
In 1978, he proudly became a U.S. citizen, embracing his new home while never losing his love for exploring the world. A true traveler at heart, Michael found joy in experiencing different cultures, always ready for his next journey. He was a devoted soccer fan, fencer, and loved boating and golf. He was also a dedicated stamp collector, finding great joy in the history and artistry of his collection.
Michael was a marketing graduate of the University of Frankfurt and a proud member of the Corps Hasso-Nassovia fraternity. He was also actively involved in his community as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, contributing his expertise and passion for business.
Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Lohr, and his sister, Claudia Watson. He leaves behind his beloved children, Sheri Smith, Michael Lohr Jr., and Dion Lohr, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Kali Smith, Kimberli Perfect, Kade Smith, Keaton Smith, Isabella Lohr, and Sophia Lohr.
Michael’s spirit, warmth, and love will forever be remembered by those who knew him. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.
A celebration of his life will be held in May 2025, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Operation Kindness.
