Newt Annette Roberson

Newt Annette Wilson Roberson, 92, joined her family in heaven on January 7, 2024, from Wesley House Assisted Living in Quitman, Texas, where she was dearly loved.  She was born in southwest Arkansas on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1931, to parents Newt and Lillian Wilson.  Sister Marie (Coghlan) and brother Charles followed.

The family moved from Arkansas to Brownsville, Texas, when Annette was 14, where she met her future husband, Jim, who lived on the same block.  Annette married Jim, the love of her life, on February 1, 1951, while he was in active service during the Korean War.  Stationed in Kansas, their two sons Marty and Eddie were born.

Annette loved being a mother and homemaker.  Through the years she honed her skills as Sunday School teacher, seamstress, baker, school library assistant, amateur genealogist, gardener, oil painter, collector of dishes, and writing sideways on small scraps of paper.  But her greatest accomplishment was in loving God and people, especially her children and their families.  She delighted in time spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Newt and Lillian Wilson; brother Charles; and husband Jim.  Survivors include sister Marie; sons: Marty and wife Melinda, Eddie and wife Jeanie; grandchildren: James and wife Melissa; Jeff and wife Lynn; John and wife Kelly; Laura and husband David; great grandchildren Alyssa, Jacob, Ashlyn, Jack, Ryan, Jimmy, Paul, Austin, Joey, Callie, Geordie, and Sean; great-great grandchildren Layklynn and Stetson.
