In loving memory of Paulette Van Horn Hicks, a beloved resident of Quitman. Born on September 21, 1975 to Bruce and Phyllis Van Horn, she graced this earth with her presence until August 25, 2024, when she peacefully passed away at the age of 48. 

Known for her love of the simple things, Paulette found joy in her cactus garden, casting lines while fishing, and surrounding herself with family and friends. On September 5, 2020, she bound her heart to Jason Hicks, and they shared many beautiful memories together. To her grandchildren, she was known as “Grandmama”, and she loved them endlessly. 

Paulette was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Phyllis Van Horn; uncle, Bill Van Horn; son, Gregory Henderson; and mother-in-law, Brenda Hicks.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Jason Hicks of Quitman; her sons, Tristen DeVilbiss-Henderson and wife Ashley DeVilbiss-Henderson of Tyler and Josh Benard and girlfriend Julia Stewart who reside in Canada; her three siblings, Jeanette Nolen and husband Boo of Quitman, Ashley Van Horn and husband Bodie Scott of Quitman, and Kevin Van Horn and wife Gaby of Tyler; two grandchildren, Bruce Wayne DeVilbiss-Henderson and Ivy DeVilbiss-Henderson; father-in-law, Norman Hicks and wife Janene; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. 

Her vibrant spirit will be honored in a memorial service at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 3:00 pm with Dr. Norman Hicks officiating. Let us gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman, surrounded by the ones she cherished.

Rest in eternal peace, dear Paulette. Your journey here may have come to an end, but your memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
