Richard Valton Harris

Funeral services for Richard "Valton" Harris, 88, Quitman are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Quitman with Brother Fred Morrow officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday evening Aug. 2nd at the funeral home. Valton passed away July 30, 2013 in Quitman. He was born March 6, 1925 in Wood County to Arthur S. and Rosa Harbin Harris. He was a lineman for Wood County Electric Coop. He married Joy M. Turner August 2, 1947 and was in the U S Navy he has lived in Wood County all of his life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Quitman. He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; Sanford A. Harris and one grandson; Brian C. Harris.

Valton is survived by his wife Joy Harris, Quitman; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jolyn Harris, Quitman; 2 daughters, Nancy Jadrych and Larry, The Woodlands and Rosie Niebuhr, Hideaway, Texas; 2 sisters, Marie Swann and Catherine Thornhill, Quitman; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
