Sam Allen Long

Funeral services for Mr. Sam Allen Long, 82, of Quitman, TX are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home with Ken Goodson and Jeremiah Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery in Wood County. The family will receive friends at noon on Wednesday until service time.

Sam was born June 17, 1936 in Dallas, TX to Mike and Hattie (Stone) Long and passed away January 27, 2019 in Quitman. He was owner/operator of Sam Long Sand and Gravel for many years, and was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. Sam lived in Quitman for the last 38 years, coming from Pleasant Grove near Dallas.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annette Rogers Long; brother, John Long; and his sister, Frances Thompson.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Lee Allen Long and wife Barbara of Yantis; daughter, Debra Long of Grapevine; three sisters, Mary Binion and husband Barry of The Colony; Wanda Howell and husband James of Daingerfield, and Patty Bryan of Lewisville; two grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Holloway, Benji Thompson, Jimmy Long, Harry Darby, Stan Naramore, and Garry Gage.
