Steven P Karney

Steven P Karney, 71 years old, of Yantis, Texas, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on April 7, 2024 at 8:22am.  He was born in New Kensington, PA on July 15, 1952 to the late Steve and Mary Karney.  Steve graduated from Springdale High School and was drafted into the US Army.   He is a Vietnam Veteran.  At a young age he developed a passion for cars and spent years building, rebuilding and repairing cars.  Later in life he used these skills and his ability to fix anything in a career in maintenance with Savannah, Kindercare and several Assisted Living facilities.  After he retired, he and his wife moved to Yantis, TX and purchased a tiny home which he loved.  He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and playing cards weekly with his neighbors.   His biggest joys in life were his family and the friendships he developed.  He always had a story to tell and would make you laugh.  He will be deeply missed by friends, family and all who knew him.

 Steve is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Carolyn Selby, Son and wife Ryan and Samantha Selby-Karney, Grandkids Cooper, Abigail and Walker, Daughter Ashley Selby-Karney, Son Troy Selby-Karney, Daughter and husband Haley and Jose Martinez, Grandkids Gracelynn and Evelyn, Sister and husband Barb and Tim Williams and his girl-dog Izzie.  

Cheers to you dear husband as you gain your wings and are welcomed into the arms of your beloved grandson Jayden Simmons and your parents in heaven.  Enjoy a glass of whiskey, several pieces of candy and sing “Sittin’ On the Dock of the bay” for old times sake   You will always be loved and missed.  Here’s to You!!  

 A private ceremony for immediate family on Friday, April 12, 2024 at The Yantis Cemetery.  Followed by a Celebration of Life Lunch with friends and family at Vintage Grace.  If desired, friends and family can make donations to the ASPCA or the Barnabas fund at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Mckinney, TX
