Terry Lynn Thompson, of Yantis, Texas, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024, at the age of 66. Terry was Born on September 2, 1957, in Sonora, TX, to his father, Edward Leon Thompson, and his mother, Rene’ Gurnell (Stewart) Thompson. Terry lived a life filled with love, laughter, and immeasurable strength and He leaves behind a legacy of love for family that will forever be cherished and celebrated.

Terry married Elizabeth Sue Caviness in Lubbock, TX, on December 23, 1985, they lived and worked over the years in Lubbock, TX, Red Oak, TX,  Winnsboro, TX,  and Yantis, TX. He was a heavy equipment operator and spent most of his working life in construction. His greatest enjoyment was spent with family, fishing, hunting, and camping. Each of his sons can refer to many memories spent outdoors with their dad.

Terry's memory will always be treasured by his beloved wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Thompson, and his sons; Justin Thompson of Yantis, TX, Chris "Catfish” Thompson and his wife Alison of Emory, TX, Jordan Thompson of Emory, TX, Terry "Teerbo” Thompson and his wife Danielle of Donaldsonville, Louisiana, Cory Thompson and his wife Heather of Quitman, TX, and Rodney Thompson of Hobbs, New Mexico. Additional survivors include his sisters, LaGaytha Fitzgerald of Ransom Canyon, TX, and LaFonda Trantham of Lubbock, TX,  as well as his 12 beautiful grandchildren, Kayden, Melissa, Moxie, Oliver, Holly, Alaynna, Zayden, Levi, Noah, Michael, Winzer and Kimberly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, niece Heather Beadle, and his best friend and fishing buddy, Kenny Dockens.

The Thomspon family will receive friends on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 6 until 8 PM at Lowe-Gardner, 1102 E. Goode Street, Quitman, Texas 75783.

In celebration of Terry's remarkable life, a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 11:00 am at Lake Fork Baptist Church, with burial following at the Yantis City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Cory Thompson, Justin Thompson, Anthony Trantham, Colin Fitzgerald, Josh Chartier, Colton Glenn, Dillon Henegar, Sean Napier, Tyler Smitheal, and Daniel Cerretani, as well as Honorary Pallbearers, Wayne Box, Jerry Goff, and Stan Holly.

For those who desire to make memorial donations in Terry's name, the family suggests the Yantis High School Fishing Team to honor his generous nature and commitment to helping others.
