Thomas DeWayne Shipp

Thomas DeWayne Shipp, affectionately known as “Pawpaw” and “Big Dog”, of Bogata, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the age of 55. He was born June 25, 1969, in Texarkana, Texas to James Luckett Shipp and Patricia Dianne (Davis) Shipp.

Thomas married the love of his life, Bonita, on April 25, 2015, in Mineola, Texas. He was a dedicated truck driver most of his life. During his time off from working on the open road, he could be found spending time fishing or hanging out with his children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Davis Shipp; paternal grandparents, Marie Shipp and Thomas Shipp; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Bernice Davis; and mother-in-law, Bonnie Harper.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Bonita Shipp, of Bogata, Texas; two children, Hunter Carver and wife Kaitlyn of Mississippi and Ashley Lawson and husband Christopher of Paris, Texas; four grandchildren, Grayson, Hudson, Emberlyn, Presleigh; and one grandchild on the way, Kaden Christopher Thomas Lawson; Father, James Shipp of Golden, Texas; sister, Dianna Shipp of Texarkana, Texas and one niece, one nephew, great-nephews; cousins, and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests the donations be made in Thomas’s name to the American Cancer Society.
