Toni Lynne Fellers McNulty, our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, left this world after a brief illness on March 24, 2024, at age 79.
Toni was born to Anna Louise Bradshaw and John Russell Fellers on January 28, 1945 in Pelly (now Baytown), Texas. Her mother Anna’s second husband Richard Battarbee was Toni’s step-father. She attended Robert E. Lee High School, where she was known for her beautiful singing voice and was featured in the choir and madrigal group. She proudly represented the school in the Brigadiers drum and bugle corps as a drummer. When Toni married and became a mother, she enjoyed sewing matching outfits for her two children. She had trained as a secretary and this became her lifelong profession. She excelled at her work and was greatly admired for her organizational skills and attention to detail. When the 2010 earthquake struck Haiti, Toni put her online research skills to work, volunteering her time helping to coordinate aid services there. She had an adventurous spirit which led her to travel around the U.S. and make homes in several different states.
Toni loved nature and was an avid gardener. She thought The Rocky Mountains held the most beautiful places. She lived in Northwest Montana for a while in the mid-eighties, and enjoyed visiting her daughter Lisa Cook Sem’s family in Colorado. During a visit in 2015, she was thrilled to see John Prine and Emmylou Harris perform at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.
Toni was happiest sitting in a boat fishing for bass, especially with her son Andy Cook. She also loved playing games like Skip Bo with her son & daughter-in-law Sunnie Cook. Her family will remember her as a fun-loving person with a great sense of humor who knew how to enjoy life in the moment. She loved and supported her children: Lisa Cook Sem of Longmont, Colorado and Andrew Lee Cook of Mineola, Texas. Toni adored being grandmother to Annalee Cook, Ruby Sem and Orlando Sem, and loved her pets and grand pets as well.
Toni is survived by her two children and her daughter-in-law, her three grandchildren, her brothers Harold Battarbee and Raymond Fellers and her sister Kathleen Battarbee Pendleton. She was predeceased by her brother John Richard Fellers.
There will be a small, private memorial ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations for Haiti be directed toward Project HOPE or Doctors Without Borders.
