Tony Marshall Plocher, age 78, of Quitman, Texas, passed away on February 23, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on September 26, 1946, in Winnsboro, Texas, to the late Marshall Lee Plocher and Martha Loree (Cook) Plocher.
A proud veteran, Tony served his country in the United States Air Force after graduating high school. After his service, he worked as a carpenter for many years, honing his skills and leaving his mark on many projects. He spent most of his life in Quitman, where he was a member of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church.
Tony married his beloved wife, Cynthia Jean Luther, on January 1, 1972, in Quitman, and together they shared a lifetime of love and memories. He was known for his love of tinkering and building things, particularly through woodworking. He enjoyed fishing and had a special passion for vegetable gardening, where he found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
As a father, Tony was full of humor and loved teasing his kids, bringing joy and laughter into their lives. He was affectionately known as "Pawpaw" by his grandchildren, and he enjoyed the time spent with them.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Lee and Martha Loree Plocher; and his daughter, Melissa Plocher.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Cynthia Plocher of Quitman; three children, Jodi Cooper of Longview, Laura Short of Alba, and Joshua Plocher of Mineola; and two siblings, Doy Plocher of Quitman, and Nancy Hamilton of Holly Lake Ranch. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
