Funeral service for Victor Valek, 90, of Quitman, is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home with Brother Fred Morrow officiating. Graveside will follow at Sand Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.

Victor Lewis Valek was born at home on the farm in Mineola on August 20, 1928 to Frank Alois and Zdanka Marie Valek. He served his country proudly in the US Army from 1950 – 1952. On November 3, 1991, he married Rose Savage, and he moved to Quitman from Mineola. He worked for Trane for 37 years before retiring. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and a proud member of the NRA.

Mr. Valek passed away Wednesday morning, October 17, 2018 in Quitman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Zdanka Marie Valek; three brothers; two sisters; and one great grandchild, Kacelynn Roberts.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 26 ½ years, Rose Valek of Quitman; five sons, Dennis Valek and wife Terri of Mineola, David Valek and wife Vicky of Mineola, Darren Valek and wife Sheila of Mineola, Bill Savage and wife Amy of Southlake, and David Savage and wife Glenda of Omaha; one daughter, Belva Collinsworth and husband Jim of Kemp; 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Serving as pallbearers are Jim Collinsworth, Landon Roberts, Lance Roberts, Palmer Valek, Daniel Taylor, and Craig Szakley.
