Walter Davis Lutonsky Sr., age 91, of Quitman, passed away January 8, 2024 at his home. Walter was born on  April 20, 1932, in Redland, TX to Joe Frank and Effie Martha Lutonsky, and was a beloved member of the community since 1955.

Walter was a hardworking and dedicated man, known for his tireless efforts as a sweet potato and watermelon farmer. He took great pride in his work, nurturing the land and providing for his family and community. Walter's commitment to his craft was evident in the produce he grew throughout the years. Walter served his country proudly as a member of the Army, where he reached the rank of Corporal. His dedication to his country will forever be remembered.

In his younger days, Walter found joy in fishing. However, his greatest love was spending quality time with his family. He cherished every moment shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who fondly called him "Papaw."

Walter rejoices in Heaven with the love of his life, Lillie Hickman Lutonsky; daughter, Patricia Kay Latham and husband James Latham, Sr.; parents, Joe Frank Lutonsky and Effie Martha (Wilson) Lutonsky; sister, Emmy Grisham; brothers, Daniel Lutonsky and Eddie Lutonsky; and sons, Tommy Hickman and Jerry Mack Hickman.

Walter's legacy extends through his children, MaryAnn Kibler and husband Robert “Bob” of Quitman, and Walter Davis Lutonsky Jr. and wife Kathy of Quitman; his sister, Marie Galyean of Golden; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
